Description
Irrigation SpecialistWe are a progressive fresh produce business, committed to sustainable farming practices and delivering high-quality crops to markets across the UK. To support our growing operations, we are seeking an experienced Irrigation Specialist to take responsibility for the effective planning, monitoring, and maintenance of our irrigation systems.
This is a key technical role, ensuring crops receive the right level of water at the right time to maximise quality and yield, while driving efficiency and sustainability across the farm.
Main Duties
- Irrigation Management - Oversee and operate irrigation systems, adjusting schedules and volumes according to crop needs and weather conditions.
- Monitoring & Reporting - Record water usage, soil moisture levels, and system performance to ensure compliance with environmental and farm standards.
- System Maintenance - Carry out routine checks, repairs, and servicing of irrigation equipment to minimise downtime.
- Crop Support - Work closely with production teams to adapt irrigation strategies to different growth stages and varieties.
- Problem Solving - Quickly identify and resolve issues with pumps, lines, or distribution to maintain uninterrupted supply.
- Compliance & Sustainability - Ensure water management aligns with environmental regulations and farm efficiency goals.
- Previous experience managing irrigation in agriculture, horticulture, or fresh produce is essential.
- Strong technical understanding of pumps, drip irrigation, and water management systems.
- Ability to analyse data (soil, climate, water use) to optimise irrigation scheduling.
- Practical mechanical or engineering skills for system upkeep.
- Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, particularly during peak crop cycles.
- Driving licence essential.
