Water Resources Superintendent
Salary Range: $81,276.00 - $138,169.00 Annually
Location: 3954 Clearwell Drive NE, Leland, NC 28451
Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Water Resources Superintendent to join and help lead our Water Resources team. Brunswick County Public Utility provides water services to more than 60,000 retail water customers across a large service area. Our Public Utility team is committed to the community and takes a lot of pride in providing a high level of service to our customers every day.
Working under limited supervision, the Water Resources Superintendent will perform specialized skilled work as related to the Northwest Water Treatment Plant, Low Pressure Reverse Osmosis system, and other related appurtenances. Work involves the coordination and supervision of operators, mechanics, and laboratory personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment facilities. Work may also involve the coordination of personnel performing skilled technical work on electronics/electrical systems, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance when required.
Other responsibilities include:
Implementing safety procedures and standard operating procedures.
Coordinating training required for operation and maintenance personnel.
Preparing a variety of reports, including an annual budget, water quality reports, reporting required by the NC Department of Environmental Quality, etc.
Maintaining records related to the water treatment facilities.

The Water Resources Superintendent reports to the Water Operations Deputy Director and is considered an ESSENTIAL Employee position under County Policies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biology, or chemistry or an associate degree in engineering technology, water treatment technology, water resources, or related field, AND six (6) to nine (9) years of experience in water treatment; OR any equivalent combination of training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education and experience cannot substitute for one another.
Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver License required.
Possession of a North Carolina Grade A Surface Water Plant Operator certificate AND a Grade I Physical/Chemical Operator certificate is required.
Successful completion of Southeast Desalting Association (SEDA) Membrane Operator Certification (MOC) modules 1 and 2 preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate pump station equipment and motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of force more frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Medium Work.
