The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is seeking committee members to oversee the development of ASCE standard 94-YY:

Designing Ocean Aquaculture Facilities

Practicing engineers, researchers, building officials, contractors and construction product representatives, and regulatory agency representatives are all needed and welcome. The Chair of this committee is Matthew Bowden, P.E., NOAA Fisheries | US Department of Commerce.

The objective of this work is to establish an ASCE standards activity for the development of a new consensus standard governing the acceptable design of aquaculture facilities in high energy environments.

The primary scope of this standard is to establish acceptable structural design criteria for  aquaculture facilities in exposed conditions to reduce the risk of failure due to extreme weather, storm events and other applicable conditions.

Membership on ASCE standards committees is open to all those who are directly contributing to, and/or affected by water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering and geological engineering, structural engineering, and other applicable engineering disciplines. The committee overseeing the development of this standard will be created with membership balance that facilitates consensus building among four categories: Producer, Consumer, General Interest, and Regulatory.
