Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Water Resources Engineering, the Water Resources Engineer is responsible and accountable for water resources engineering input and technical review of: regulatory approvals and compliance, Official Plan Amendments, Secondary Plans, Zoning By-Law Amendments, Plans of Subdivision and Condominium, complex Site Plan and Niagara Escarpment Development Applications, Niagara Escarpment Plan Amendments, Environmental Assessments, Subwatershed Studies, and other studies and technical reports. The Water Resources Engineer will:
- Ensure services are effectively and efficiently delivered in accordance with Conservation Halton's policies and procedures
- Engage in a collaborative solutions-oriented approach to provide comprehensive expert advice for proponents, municipality, and other agencies
- Review and maintain flood hazard modelling and mapping
- Participate in the preparation of expert planning and technical teams' advice and opinions on behalf of Conservation Halton at the Ontario Lands Tribunal or other tribunals
- Undertake site inspections prior, during and post construction
- Support the development of procedures, guidelines, and corporate and inter-agency projects and studies
Requirements
Your Qualifications
- Graduate from University degree program in Water Resources or Civil Engineering or related program from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), licensed in the Province of Ontario
- 5 years relevant development review/design experience
- Experience developing, fostering, and sustaining effective and positive work relationships
- Experience in hydrology and hydraulics, with working knowledge of riverine modelling
- Experience in geomorphological, geotechnical and coastal processes and analyses
- Knowledge of principles, design, policies, and procedures related to stormwater management
- Knowledge of watershed management and planning, including the Conservation Authorities Act, the Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and Provincial Planning Statement
- Ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment
